Sand bags deployed for flooded homes due to rain
At least two reported homes in Crawford County experienced flooding due to rain water last week, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at about 8 p.m., the sheriff’s office was informed of a residence that had a basement actively flooding due to rain water. The Crawford County Emergency Management Office and the Prairie du Chien Police Department obrained, filled and deployed sandbags. Some 10 to 20 sand bags filled for the residence.
“It was very nice to have the support of the police department to assist in filling the bags,” said Emergency Management Director Jim Hackett.
Then, on Tuesday, Jan. 19, aroun 5 p.m., the sheriff's office was notified of a house that was flooding in the township of Bridgeport. Crawford County Emergency Management was contacted for sand bags. The Bridgeport Fire Department, for the second time three days, volunteered to help fill and deploy sand bags. Also, Prairie Sand and Gravel assisted with locating sand on short notice, according to Hackett.
