Frances M. Jaeger, 92, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 12, at Behr Funeral Home, Dubuque.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov, 13, at Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church, Dubuque, conducted by Rev. Andrew Awotwe-Mensah.

Burial was in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Frances was born on July 27, 1925, in Niedermurach Barvaria, Germany, daughter of Martin and Maria (Haas) Wild.

Frances was united in marriage to George A. Jaeger on Oct. 2, 1948, in Germany. They were blessed with 38 wonderful years together, and 10 adored children, before George was called home ahead of her on March 10, 1986. Frances was no stranger to hard work; growing up in Germany and joyfully playing the role of full-time wife and mother to 10. Frances was well known for taking meticulous care of her home and family and the pride she derived from her responsibilities were visibly on display for all to witness. After the children were raised, she would go on to share her talents outside of the home in the environmental services department at Sunnycrest. She faithfully invested over 13 years there until her eventual retirement in 1987.

Faith was an integral part of Frances’ life also and her long-time membership with Sacred Heart Church, and their Rosary Society, were always held as a top priority in Frances’ day. In her free time, Frances enjoyed creating beautiful pieces through crocheting and knitting; always willing to generously share her techniques with countless school children throughout the years. Her greatest joy, however, was definitely found in precious hours she was able to spend with her family. She absolutely loved all of her children, and especially doted on the grandchildren and great-grandchildren; all of whom knew quite undeniably that they each held a special place in her heart. We are all deeply saddened at the loss of the wonderful woman we were fortunate enough to call mom, grandma and friend, but we take comfort in the fact that our faith assures us that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, George, son, Charles, and all of her family members who’ve been called home ahead of her. Thank you Frances for the amazing example you set while you were here and the abundance of beautiful memories you leave behind!

Those left to cherish Frances’ memory include her nine children, Dottie (Lowell) Willie, St. Olaf, Monica Jaeger, Dubuque, Martin Jaeger, Waterloo, Andy Jaeger, Dubuque, Gene (Gail) Jaeger, Albia, Cathy (Steve) Wiskus, Colesburg, Jerry (Deb) Jaeger, Dubuque, Angela Jaeger, Dubuque and Theresa (Jeff) Kotz, Dubuque; her daughter-in-law, Mary Jaeger, Dubuque; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Charles Jaeger; a sister, Katie; and two brothers, Norbert and Andres.

In lieu of flowers, a Frances M. Jaeger memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

Frances’ family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque, especially Edna, for all of the kind, compassionate and professional care of Frances, and her family.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.behrfuneralhome.com.
