Fredrick “Fred” Everett Huff
Fredrick “Fred” Huff, 63, of Farmersburg, Iowa, died Sunday, Jan. 21, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa, after a brave battle with cancer.
Fredrick Everett was born on Aug. 22, 1954, to Everett and Dorothy (Seitz) Huff in Waukon, Iowa. He graduated from MFL High School in 1973.
Fred was united in marriage with Cheri Henkes on Aug. 21, 1976, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Throughout the years Fred worked for Luana Creamery, Wright Tree Service, Webster Lumber Company and most recently, Bausch Trucking and Pattison Sand Company. He also owned and operated Huff Logging with Richard “Dick” Koehn for many years. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, collecting windmills and running sleds and raising beagles with his sister Melody. He loved spending time “gabbing” with his family and friends.
Fred is survived by his wife, Cheri, of Farmersburg, Iowa; children, Tiffany (fiancé, Lonny Johansen) Adams, of West Union, Iowa, Nicholas (Karmen Keene) Huff, of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Tasha (Nathan) Smith, of Kalona, Iowa; five grandchildren, Amber, Bryce, Delaney, Macey and Jamison; three sisters, Dyane (Harry) Schutte, of Monona, Iowa, Melody Kishman, of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Wendy (Harry) Luster, of Monona, Iowa; sister-in-laws, Colleen Hunter, of Hills, Iowa, and Corinne Henkes, of Dubuque, Iowa; a mother-in-law Judy (Gene) Chickering, of Harlan, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy Huff; two siblings, Susan and Courtney; father-in-law, Curtis Henkes; brother-in-law, Brad Kishman; sister-in-law, Crystal (Henkes) Mielke; and a comical uncle, Kenneth “Shorty” Henkes.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa, with Rev. Erika Kielstrup as the Officiant. Burial followed at Smithfield Cemetery, rural Monona, Iowa. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa, is helping the family with arrangements.
