Prairie du Chien’s Matt Antoine is in South Korea preparing for his second Winter Olympic games. Matt won the bronze medal in Sochi, Russia in men’s skeleton in 2014. Matt’s mother, Mary, along with nine other family members and friends, are in Gangneung, South Korea, to cheer Matt on.

We visited the Olympic Park in Gangneung and were greeted by a parade. My granddaughter did some serious pin trading.

After touring some of the houses in the park and doing serious damage at the Super Store, we visited Canada House. We watched some competitions on the screen, saw the U.S. women’s hockey team beat Finland, and ate poutine. The Canadians are very hospitable. There are lots of Americans at Canada House.

On Monday, we went to the women’s slope style in the Mountain Cluster. It was cold and very, very windy. It was so windy that only five women made it through the complete course. We saw the winning run of American Jamie Anderson. We then went to the Proctor and Gamble House and had a surprise visit from Matt. The Proctor and Gamble House is open to family members.

The men’s skeleton races are expected to be broadcast live beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14 and at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. Broadcast times are subject to change.
