Two charged with meth offenses
Two individuals were charged recently with methamphetamine-related offenses after one of them was found behind the wheel of a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, according to the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
On Feb. 1, at about 2 a.m., Prairie police officers, along with Crawford County K-9 Breck, made contact with a suspicious vehicle parked on the 200 block of East Blackhawk Avenue in Prairie du Chien. The registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. As officers attempted to make contact with the driver and passenger, both occupants of the vehicle began walking away from the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Nicole White, 30, of Lancaster, and the passenger was identified as Henry Berns, 25, from Garnavillo, Iowa. At the time of contact, White was on probation for meth charges and displayed numerous signs of narcotics impairment, according to a news release.
Officers subsequently searched the vehicle and discovered numerous precursor items used to manufacture meth, including a gas mask, glass measuring cup with a large amount of white residue, various liquid precursors and ammonia nitrate packets.
Also contained in the backpack was instructions, printed from the internet, on how to manufacture meth.
Both Berns and White were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia and possession of materials used to manufacture methamphetamine, the news release said.
