“We’ve made great progress since the announcement a few weeks ago regarding the strategic discontinuation and restructuring of a number of our services,” said Bill Sexton, Chief Executive Officer at Crossing Rivers Health.

Sexton said the organization is eager to share more information with the community and its collaborative partners. Administration would also like to extend its sincere gratitude to all who have come forward in support since the announcement.

“I want to stress the fact that these business decisions, although difficult, have been made from a position of strength, and of our own accord. The community should know that Crossing Rivers Health is a financially strong organization,” Sexton added. “By collaborating, rather than competing in these areas of service, it creates new opportunities for area agencies, as well as our organization.”

According to Rick Peterson, Crossing Rivers Health Community Resource Director, Catholic Charities in Prairie du Chien has expressed interest in continuing a number of the Family Resource Center’s programs. Peterson said, “The Giving Shelf will continue to be available for families with young children that may be in need of diapers, formula, baby food, etc. Catholic Charities is also planning to continue the Resource Lending Library, which gives area families access to loaned educational toys, strollers, high chairs, cribs and other larger items.” After Aug. 31, anyone in need of these items, or wishing to donate, may visit Catholic Charities, 104 East Blackhawk Ave., or call 326-1616.

The popular Safe Sitter course will continue to be hosted by the Crossing Rivers Health Education Department. Future classes will be hosted at the medical center, in addition to Friends and Family and Heart Saver CPR.

Car seat installs for babies born at Crossing Rivers Health will continue to be supported out of the obstetrics department. Car seat safety checks will also be made available to the community on a monthly basis, and by appointment. Information including dates and times for appointments will be available at crossingrivers.org.

Weekly resident relocation meetings continue with the Assisted Living staff and the State of Wisconsin relocation team. “Three assisted living residents will move to their new homes this week,” shared Amanda Schultz, director of Crossing Rivers Health Assisted Living. “Staff continue to work very closely with Prairie Maison and Bluff Haven, along with other area assisted living and nursing home facilities.”

Crossing Rivers Health Childcare, which is located in the same building as the Assisted Living Facility, will continue in its current location. Plans are underway to relocate the childcare center to the medical center campus.

A home health collaborative discussion took place at Crossing Rivers on July 12. About 30 representatives from area home health agencies attended the meeting to discuss the availability and delivery of home health services to area residents, according to Jenny Pritchett, Chief Nursing Officer. Home health and personal home services staff continue to work one-on-one with each individual patient to identify services to meet their needs.

Pritchett added, “We can say with certainty that the area home health agencies will provide necessary services to all of the home health patients previously cared for by Crossing Rivers Health.”

“We are certain our communities’ needs will continue to be met in all areas, further demonstrating the great network of partners we have in our region,” stated Sexton. “Through these changes, our focus continues to be on ensuring a smooth and positive transition for the residents, patients and employees of these services.”

Questions or comments are welcome and may be directed to Sexton at (608) 357-2236 or email communications@crossingrivers.org.
