On Sept. 11, at 10:32 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a possible impaired driver on County A going west from Cty VV in Bloomington Township. The caller remained behind the vehicle to update the location because he felt the driving was very dangerous. The caller reported the vehicle was driving into the ditch and it struck another vehicle it was passing, in a no passing zone. The caller said the vehicle almost struck an oncoming vehicle head-on because it was left of center on County X. The vehicle almost struck the guardrail going down the hill on County C toward Highway 18. Law enforcement from Crawford County was requested to assist in locating and stopping the vehicle. An officer from the Prairie du Chien Police Department located the vehicle as it crossed the Wisconsin River bridge into Crawford County. The officer stopped the car on Upper Bridgeport Road, just off Highway 18.

The investigating deputy from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrived. The driver was identified as Deybin Hernandez-Centeno, 22, of Steuben. The deputy noticed an odor of intoxicants and had Hernandez-Centeno perform standardized field sobriety tests. Due to the results, he was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense. He was also cited for operating left of center, operating without a valid driver’s license, and a possible hit and run remains under investigation as there was damage on his vehicle consistent with what the witness described.
