Robert Richard Sheber, age 77, of Guttenberg, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 30, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Harold McMillin. Visitation was before services at the funeral home.

Interment was at Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Robert was born on Jan. 20, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of Edward and Pauline Sheber.

Robert graduated from the Guttenberg High School and later enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from October 1960 till he received his honorable discharge in October 1966. On April 30, 1966, Robert was united in marriage with Karen White at St. John’s Church in Guttenberg. Robert spent much of his professional life working in the timbers of Iowa as a logger. 

Robert was known as “Red” to all who knew and loved him.

Red took great pride in the skills he learned as a CB in the United States Navy. These skills lead to a passion for woodworking and building things with a strict eye to detail. He will be remembered for his many talents, love of his family and his quiet strength.

Robert will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of 52 years, Karen; children, Robert “Rick” (Abbey) Sheber, Ronald (Dawn) Sheber and Rhonda Sheber; grandchildren, Sierra and Robert Sheber, Corey Sheber and Ashton Hakert; sister, Mary (Fred) Thielen and many other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jo Ann Hill and Dorothy Heim; two brothers, Edward and Bill Sheber; and his eldest son, Ronald.
