Wilma J. Troester, 84, of River Falls and formerly of Prairie du Chien and Garnavillo, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. 

She was born July 5, 1934, in Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Bernice (Frederick) Wilke. She married Curtis Troester on June 15, 1953, in Glenview, Ill., and they later divorced. She worked at Knapp’s Furniture and the Piggly Wiggly in Prairie du Chien. Wilma later owned and operated the Villa Oasis in Prairie du Chien for several years and later worked at the Marquette Cafe. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint and loved to travel. She was a member of the Garnavillo Legion Auxiliary. 

She is survived by her children, Sonja (John) Klocker of Ames, Iowa, Cindy (Mike Kozelka) Jones of McGregor, Iowa, Rick (Gloria) Troester of River Falls, and Randy “Trip” (Julie) Troester of Monona, Iowa; her (adopted) daughter LuAnn (Robert) Chambers of Buford, Ga.; her former husband, Curt (Karla) Troester of Prairie du Chien; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one great–great-grandchild; along with her beloved cat, Lexi.

A memorial service will be Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, with Pastor Bruce Hanson officiating. Interment will be in the Garnavillo City Cemetery in Garnavillo. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Wilma’s name to be donated to some of her favorite charities.
