River Ridge tops Southwestern
River Ridge bested visiting Southwestern 47-12 in a Six Rivers football game Friday night. With the victory, River Ridge earned a spot in the WIAA Division 7 playoffs. The third-seeded Timberwolves will host the sixth-seeded Pirates of De Soto on Oct. 25.
River Ridge, playing on their Senior Night, got on the board first with a 52-yard touchdown pass from Logan Drone to Connor Mumm with 10:41 to play in the first quarter. The PAT was good and the Timberwolves went up 7-0.
River Ridge scored on a 13-yard TD pass from Cole Crubel to Archie Cooley to increase the margin to 13-0.
Southwestern scored on a 12-yard run to pull Southwestern within 13-6 with 2:07 left in the first period.
Will Esser had a 4-yard TD run and the PAT was successful as River Ridge increased their lead to 20-6 with 1:42 to go in the first quarter.
Mumm ran it in from 10 yards out and the extra point was good as River Ridge went up 27-6 at the end of the first period.
Crubel ran it in from 2 yards out with 7:59 remaining in the half and the PAT was good as River Ridge increased their advantage to 34-6.
Southwestern answered with a 3-yard TD run to pull within 34-12.
Crubel scored on a 6-yard run as the Timberwolves went up 40-12 at halftime.
Crubel found Ethan Hunt for a 23-yard touchdown pass with 6:12 to go in the third period and the PAT was good to give River Ridge a 47-12 lead with 6:12 remaining in the third quarter.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter as River Ridge took the 47-12 victory.
Drone was 1 for 1 passing for 52 yards and a TD for River Ridge. Crubel was 3 of 5 for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. Esser had 13 carries for 135 yards and a TD. Crubel had 5 rushes for 21 yards and a touchdown. Mumm had 2 carries for 24 yards and a TD.
Drone caught 1 pass for 52 yards. Hunt had 1 catch for 23 yards and a TD. Mumm caught 1 pass for 52 yards and a touchdown. Cooley caught 1 pass for 13 yards and a touchdown.
