At its regular monthly meeting on May 14, the Clayton Ridge School Board accepted a bid from a food management company to handle school lunches for the 2020-21 school year. The district currently employs a staff to prepare lunches.

The unanimous vote to make the change came after a study by the school district. A representative from OPAA Food Management, Inc. answered questions via Zoom about the company's services and the transition process. An assurance was made that OPAA will employ current staff members.

In other business, Superintendent Shane Wahls discussed preschool for 2020-21 and the potential for additional virtual school students. Principal Laura Bilden discussed planning for the coming school year, handbooks, online learning, professional development and schedules for seniors to return laptops and textbooks.

The list of graduates of the Class of 2020 was approved.

Technology team members recommended updates to the school's website and presented a technology budget for 2020-21. The board approved a list of technology improvements totalling approximately $27,200.

The resignation of business education teacher Lori Crum was accepted, and Tim Helle was approved as a volunteer coach for boys basketball. Kathy Connelly was hired as a summer tech assistant at $15 per hour for up to 80 hours. The board approved a librarian sharing agreement with MFL Mar-Mac for the coming school year. Kendra Wilke was approved to provide up to 75 hours of band lessons this summer.

Attending the meeting on-site were President John Heying, members Alicia Helle and Jason Reimer; Superintendent Shane Wahls and secretary Dave Schlueter. Attending via Zoom were board members Kathy Ihde, Mike Finnegan, Christine Aulwes and Ellen Johnson; Principal Laura Bilden, Deb Henkes, Sarah Cherne, Nicole DeGidio, Lynette Pritchard, Carole Mackey, Travis Geuder and Greg Frost of OPAA. — Taken from meeting minutes by Dave Schlueter, edited by Shelia Tomkins.
