Donald W. Welsh, 61, of Dubuque died June 10, 2020, at Manor Care in Dubuque.

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 8, beginning at 2 p.m. at Bootleggers in Millville.

Don was born May 20, 1959, at Xavier Hospital in Dubuque to Bill and Rose (Hunemuller) Welsh. He graduated from Guttenberg High School.

Don served in the Army 1st BN 30th FA from June 1981 - Oct. 1984. He received multiple badges for marksmanship and good conduct.

He spent 30+ years as an iron worker through Local Iron Workers Union 111 out of Rock Island, Ill.

Don is survived by his children, Jennifer (Sheila), Nicole (Bill), and Jason Welsh; brother, Bill (Diane) Welsh; sister, Vickie (Duke) Eppler; nephews, Nick (Theresa) Reardon, Will (Sonya) and Chris (Emily) Welsh; nieces, Valarie (Randy) Jaeger and Alissa (Brook) Monica.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wendy Sue Welsh.

Memorials may be sent to the Veterans Administration of Iowa.

Thank you to the VA for everything they did for Don. A very special thank you to Dave and LeAnn Schrader and their children, Johnathan Stolts, Natalie, Olivia and Emery Schrader for being Don's extended family. His life was much richer with their unconditional love and support.
