Terry J. Lang

Terry J. Lang, age 72, of Harpers Ferry, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wis., after an extended illness. He was born July 31, 1949, the son of Leo and Mercedes (Schmitt) Lang Sr. He graduated from Wauzeka High School and went to work for General Motors. He met his lifelong partner Juanita Robbins and together they raised their family in the McGregor area.

Arlene A. Pollock

Arlene Ann (Schultz) Pollock, 89, of Elgin, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at Great River Care Center in McGregor. Arlene was born March 25, 1932 to Lloyd William and Aurelia M. (Heins) Schultz at the doctor’s office in Postville. She graduated from Postville High School in 1949. During Postville’s centennial year, Arlene led the marching band for parades through town. After high school, Arlene worked for her family’s restaurant in Postville.

Curtis Henry Schroeder, 73, of Guttenberg, died Nov. 19, 2021, at Iowa City VA Health Care System in Iowa City. He was born on Sept. 2, 1948, in Elkader, the son of Stanley and Florence (Troester) Schroeder.

Marilyn J. Larson

Marilyn Janis Larson was born in Dr. Jerdee’s office in Clermont on Aug. 26, 1933, to Aines and Harriet (Amundson) Olson. She was the second of five sisters. Marilyn grew up on the Olson family farm 3 miles east of Clermont. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at the East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont. She attended country school at the Grand Meadow Township #8 “Olson” School, 7th- 8th grades at the Larrabee School in Clermont and was a 1950 graduate of Clermont High School. Following graduation, she worked in Dr. Jerdee’s office in Clermont.

Woodrow Francis Kuhse, 62, of Elkader, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at his home in Elkader. He was born April 24, 1959, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Francis W. and Catherine (Weber) Kuhse.

Jerome T. Weiss

Longtime resident of McGregor, Jerry Weiss, passed away at age 73, after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born to Herbert and Charlotte (Gordon) Weiss, one of three children, where the Weiss family farmed in the West Union area. He graduated from high school in the McGregor school system.

Charles J. Mason

Charles (Charlie) John Mason was born in Fonda to Charles Joseph Mason and Cecilia O’Brien Mason on June 20, 1942. He was a gift to the world from the day he was born. At a young age, his family moved to Marquette, where he grew up enjoying nature and the love of family and friends. His strong work ethic was apparent from early on. One of his first jobs was shoveling snow ahead of a train as it passed through Buelah Falls in McGregor. Other jobs included an arborist for Wright Tree service and laborer at the McGregor elevator before he began his beloved profession of being a commercial fisherman.

Lawrence E. 'Bud' Kuehl

Lawrence Eugene “Bud” Kuehl, 88, of Edgewood, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg. He was born on March 4, 1933, in Communia, the son of LeRoy and Irma (Nading) Kuehl. Bud was raised and educated in the Littleport area and was a 1951 graduate of Littleport High School. He served honorably in the United States Army.
