Prairie du Chien cheerleaders earn first place
The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk Cheerleaders attended the Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School Cheer Competition on Saturday, Feb. 14. The girls competed in two cheer categories: non-stunt and cheer dance. The girls earned a first-place trophy and individual medals in both divisions.
Coach Kelli Saxe stated that the girls performed very well and did a great job entertaining the crowd. She said that she was especially proud that they did so well in the cheer dance category, a division they’ve not had as much success in in years past.
The girls will compete next Saturday at Waupaca High School at the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches) Regional Cheer Competition. The team is hoping to place in the top half of each of their competing divisions so they can qualify for state.
Fans can catch performances of both cheer routines at the Fifth Annual Blackhawk Bleacher Bash which is a show/fund-raiser put on by the Hawkettes this coming Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. Admission to the event is only $3. Come show your support to both teams and enjoy an entertaining afternoon!
