River Valley and Westby defeat Prairie du Chien
Prairie du Chien lost to visiting River Valley 9-1 in nine innings in an SWC softball game Friday afternoon.
River Valley got on the board first with a run in the top of the fourth inning to go ahead 1-0.
Prairie tied the pitcher’s duel with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Neither team scored in the seventh and the game went into extra innings.
River Valley then rallied for 8 big runs in the ninth and held Prairie scoreless in the bottom half as River Valley took the win.
River Valley scored 9 runs on 10 hits and committed no errors. Prairie du Chien scored 1 run on 4 hits and committed 4 errors.
Lauren Nicholson struck out 7 in the loss.
At the Fennimore Tournament on May 2, Westby got past Prairie du Chien 7-6 in five innings.
Prairie took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but Westby scored 3 runs in the bottom of the second to go up 3-2.
Westby scored 2 runs in the fourth to increase the margin to 5-2.
Prairie rallied for 4 runs in the top of the fifth, but Westby scored 2 in the bottom half to get the win.
