Raymond “Bud” Marmann

Raymond “Bud” J. Marmann, Jr., 88, of Farmersburg, died Friday, October 30, 2015, at the Elkader Care Center in Elkader. He was born January 4, 1927, at home in rural Clayton Center, to Ray and Pearl (Taake) Marmann Sr.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Fishler on February 16, 1955. Two children were born to this union.
Ray farmed in rural Elkader area until 1976. He moved to Farmersburg and started working at Central Community School in Elkader as Transportation Supervisor and substitute athletic bus driver. In June of 2004, he retired after 27 years of service. Ray also did small engine repair from his shop in Farmersburg.
He enjoyed training and taking care of his dog, hunting, fishing and working on small engines.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie (Roger) Groth of Manchester; three grandchildren, Ginger (Tim) Holz of Manchester, Corey Groth of Manchester and Nathan (Randi) Groth of Coggon; eight great-grandchildren, Ethan Holz, Akaya Holz, Aleaya Holz, Aidan Holz, Cayden Groth, Sophia Groth, Ryan Groth and Tyler Groth; one brother, Don (Shirley) Marmann of Farmersburg; two sisters, Elvera Palas of Elkader and Geneva Hoth of Monona; sisters-in-law, Betty Marmann of Elkader, Nancy Marmann of Cedar Rapids, Marlene Marmann of Elkader and Special Friend, Lucena Phelps.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 1983; an infant son, Gerald Marmann; great-grandson, Evan Holz; three brothers, Everett Marmann. Vurnell Marmann and Allan Dale Marmann; brothers-in-law, John Palas and Vernon Hoth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Elkader. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader.
