The Hawkettes are on a roll

On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Prairie du Chien Hawkette Dance Team attended the Sparta Dance Invitational held at Sparta High School.

The team competed in three dance categories. The girls earned a third-place trophy in their jazz division, a second-place trophy in their pom division, and a first-place trophy in their kick division!

The girls also earned a huge trophy for having the highest team score overall at the competition!

Four soloists also performed at this competition: Lindsey Ohlert, Stephanie Elmquist, Mariah Slaght, and Katie Zahara. Each of the girls placed and earned ribbons for their beautifully performed routines.

The team is gearing up for their last competition of the season, which is Dance Regionals. It is held at Watertown High School on Jan. 30.  Teams who place in the top half of their divisions at this regional competition will advance to the State Dance Competition held at the La Crosse Center on Feb. 6.
