The Prairie du Chien boys soccer team opened their home season Tuesday evening hosting the Richland Center Hornets.

The Blackhawks played a well balanced game of procession and control. Prairie started out quickly. Only 3:54 into the game, Chas Sagedahl delivered a through ball to Jon Dyer who put it in for the first goal.

At 5:05, Nathaniel Oehler crossed to an awaiting Mark Welter who pounded in the second goal. Then at 10:24, Evan Teynor powered through with a pass to Jon Dyer once more for Prairie’s third goal and an early 3-0 lead.

The remainder of the first half was back and forth with several Prairie scoring opportunities, but it wasn’t till the 41st minute that Jon Dyer found Jack Stoeffler open en route. Stoeffler knocked it in for a fourth goal and the half ended 4-0.

The Hawks scored in the first minute of the second half when defenseman Nathan Specht, playing in an up position, found a crease and delivered the ball to Jack Stoeffler once again for the score.

Up 5-0, the Blackhawks began a team rotation working through the entire eligible roster.

Richland Center broke through in the 64th minute for a quick goal to make it a 5-1 game. Except for this quick score, Wesley Schwager at goalie and the rotating defensive backs of Teynor, Specht, Andrew Waller, Nolan Stram, Ben Teynor, Blake Garcia, Issac Nicholas, Sam Peterson, Jack Peterson, Ben La Haie, Joe Gourdin and Tanner Bollman shut down the Hornet offense.

In addition, offensive support and control was maintained throughout the second half by Hunter Domeier, Dalton Hendrix, Ramon Gonzalez, Anthony Irvin, Jacob Mara, Weston Hill and Clayton DuCharme.

Finally, in the 88th minute, Jon Dyer broke loose on the right side. Closing in on the goal rather than taking the shot, Jon slid the ball across the front of the goal and the goalie to a crashing Josh Dyer who tapped it in for the goal. The Dyer to Dyer brother combo capped the 6-1 PdC victory.

Prairie’s SWC competition continues Thursday when they travel to Platteville to battle last year’s conference champion Hillmen.
