unusual and fun
cross country meet
The Prairie du Chien Cross Country team competed with Platteville on Thursday night at La Riviere Park.
Instead of running against each other, runners from both teams were mixed into three separate teams: the Lead Miners, Prairie Dogs, and Voyagers.
“It was awesome to see the two teams really come together and work together and simply enjoy each other’s company. They were laughing, warming up together and having a great time,” said Assistant Coach Alli Klein. “It was fun to see the kids learning from each other during the warm ups. I also thought the runners really pushed themselves because they didn’t want to let their new teams down.”
“Both the boys and girls ran well,” said Head Coach Kathleen Hein. “Exchange student Magnus Goltermann finish in ninth place overall for a ribbon. Freshman Jayce Sexton was part of the winning team, the Prairie Dogs, beating the Lead Miners and Voyagers who tied for second by just 3 points.
Sophomore Ella Hein led the Prairie du Chien girls with a third-place finish. Amber Huser and Faith Dillman also came away with ribbons for fifth and sixth place respectively. Bella Cummuta and Harlee Eastman ran on the winning girls team, the Lead Miners, finishing just 3 points ahead of the Prairie Dogs. More results can be found at accuracetiming.com. Prairie du Chien’s next meet is Thursday, Sept. 22 in Richland Center.
