Catherine Kuhse
September 15, 1935 to February 1, 2019

Catherine A. (Weber) Kuhse, 83, of Elkader, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. She was born September 15, 1935, in Dubuque to Bernard and Mildred (Hefel) Weber.

She was united in marriage to Francis W. Kuhse on February 8, 1958, in Dubuque.

The couple made their home in Elkader and were blessed with three sons.

Kay was a homemaker and did enjoy cooking. She had a passion for reading, loved spending time with family and enjoyed gardening. She was always happy. She loved to cook – however, she shared her first chocolate pie baking experience—using salt instead of sugar—we cannot print Francie’s response! They were however, a very happy couple!

Survivors include her sons, Bernard (Sandra Walter) Kuhse of Edgewood; Joseph Kuhse of Dubuque; and Woodrow Kuhse of Elkader; one step-grandson, Lucas Walter; two sisters, Ruth (Butch) Wilmers of Dubuque and Lois (Ron) Jungers of Rickardsville.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 20, 1990, and two sisters Carol Lawver and Deborah Weber.

The Family would like to thank the doctors and  staff of Mercy Hospital and Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care given to Kay.

A visitation was held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at the funeral home and after 10 on Wednesday at the church. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Peace United Church of Christ Elkader with Rev. Jon Haack officiating. Interment was at East Side Cemetery, Elkader, Iowa.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisted the family. Online condolences may be left with www.graufuneralhomes.com
