Ray Williams
February 21, 1939-March 27, 2019

Ray Alfred Williams, 80 of Elkader, died March 27th, 2019, at the Elkader Care Center after a two-week stay. He was born February 21, 1939, to Floyd and Bertha (Willie) Williams.  

He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Handke on December 12, 1959. Four children were born to this union. Together they made their home near Motor Mill where they farmed for many years. Ray also served in the Army before he enjoyed a lifelong career working at John Deere until his retirement. Ray loved to spend his days fishing, coon hunting, and cooking maple syrup.  He also enjoyed bluegrass festivals and traveling to National Parks to see the mountains. Above all he valued spending time in the outdoors surrounded by his family.

Ray is survived by his wife, Shirley of 59 years, his children, Dan (Cheryl) Williams, Connie Kraemer, Gary (Laura) Williams and Brian Williams;  six grandchildren, Justin Williams, Jason Williams, Kayla Kraemer, Kyle Kraemer, Lynnette Williams, and Tiffany Williams.  Three sisters LaVera Schenke, Jean Morarend, and Gerry Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Marvin, Ivan, and Julius Williams, sisters Irene Gleason and Faye Wiskus.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
