Dwayne L. Carlson, 83, of Elkader, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at MercyOne in Elkader.

A celebration of life service/gathering will be held on Sunday, June 27, at Clayton County Fairgrounds at National from 2-5 p.m.

Dwayne LeRoy Carlson was born on Nov. 30, 1937, to Oscar and Ethel (Marfilius) Carlson in rural Farmersburg. Dwayne attended Hawkeye Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Monona High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Arah Lenth on Dec. 2, 1956, in Monona. Dwayne was a lifelong farmer. He loved driving semi and grain cart, playing cards, golf and traveling, as well as his winters in Texas with Arah. Dwayne was on the Fair Board for 25 years; 18 of those years as vice president. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.

Dwayne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arah; children, Marsha Carlson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Brent (Cheryl) Carlson of St. Olaf; Gale Carlson of Bridgeport, Wis.; grandchildren, Brad and Alisha Carlson of Naperville, Ill., Jamie and Christopher Reimer of Elkader; Tyler Carlson and Kimberly of Elkader, and Nicholas and Chelsea Carlson of Bridgeport, Wis.; sister, Darlene Gossman of Monona, and 12 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Larry Carlson.
