Eunice Ann (Curtis) Dagnon, 80, was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Steuben, to Loren and Esther (Kast) Curtis. She grew up a farm girl in rural Crawford County, graduating from Wauzeka High School in 1958.

She met her husband Richard “Dick” Dagnon in high school. A love of music and dancing brought them together and they were united in marriage on Dec. 5, 1959. Eunice and Dick started their marriage on an adventure, moving to London, England, immediately. This is where Eunice developed her love for traveling. They settled in Platteville in 1964. Eunice worked various retail jobs throughout the years, including their family shoe store, LeMoines, in downtown Platteville. But her true calling was that of a caregiver. Eunice spent many years providing home care to the elderly, providing excellent care through love, patience and understanding for all. These qualities are her legacy; she taught her children to accept all with love, respect, and compassion.

Eunice found her happiest moments spent with family. When her children were growing up, her love of music and dancing was prevalent in the house, always singing, and on Sundays the furniture was cleared, and dancing ensued. It was joyful and created beautiful family memories. Spending time with family was most precious to her. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother brought great joy to her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Platteville and, after moving to Prairie du Chien, was blessed to have Pastor Lynn Schreck in her life, supporting her faith and guiding her journey.

Eunice is survived by her daughters, Pam (Ross) Ritchie of Prairie du Chien, and Paula (Ron) Reif of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren, Gabe Ritchie, Somer (Brian) Clark, Kristy (Kris Bjerke) Knoble, Tisha Mae Earle, Austin Reif and Grace Reif; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Dale Curtis; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Rich) Emery; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Dagnon; her parents, Loren and Esther Curtis; siblings, Edna Trumm, Ethel Ward, Edith Davis, Evelyn Breitenbach, Lloyd (Dick) Curtis; as well as many sisters- and brothers-in-laws.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Eunice’s daughter, Pam, in Prairie du Chien. Memorials may be made to the Eunice Dagnon Memorial Fund, which can be mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 245, Platteville, WI 53818. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Bluff Haven Assisted Living for amazing care and friendship as well as the wonderful caring services of Agrace Hospice.
