Larry G. Schuety, 73, of Aurora, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was born Sept. 10, 1947, at home in rural Elkader, to Fred C. and Alice Alma (Lahrs) Schuety. He was the youngest of seven children. Larry graduated from Central Community High School in 1965.

 

Following graduation, he worked for Thor Fisko for a time, then attended Area One Community College in Calmar for accounting. He has worked many years at Aurora Elevator in Aurora.

 

Larry enjoyed fishing, gardening and canning, plus he enjoyed watching sports. He has many wonderful friends in Aurora who he spent a great deal of time with. He enjoyed watching their children grow up and then their children.

 

He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Ann Witte of Alexandria, Va., and Betty Boots of Elkader; nieces, Twyla (Ken) Walz, Dawn (Mike) Anzallo, Toni (Dan) Moser, Sue Larson (Ron Shea) and Lynn (Steve) Miller; one great nephew, Nick Anzallo; eight great-nieces, Elisha Ihde, Summer, Alyssa and Piper Anzallo, Stephanie Vaughn, Alison Larson and Autumn and Remington Miller.

 

Preceding Larry in death were his parents; three brothers, Carlus, Richard and Freddie Jr.; one sister, Ramona Mae; niece, Sarah Louise Schuety; and his great-niece, LaTonya Walz.

 

Graveside service will be Friday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Clayton Center.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family.
