Dennis Edmund Keppler, 75, of rural St. Olaf, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Mercy One in Elkader. He was born July 4, 1946, in Oelwein, to Irvin Joseph and Florence Angeline (Ries) Keppler. Dennis attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Oelwein.

 

On Nov. 23, 1968, Dennis was united in marriage to Mary Anne Gruman, at the Catholic Church in Lamont.  Six children were born to this union.

 

Dennis did a lot of dozer work in the early years and has been a dairy farmer for many years. He read and enjoyed being outside. Dennis has been an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader, where he served on many committees and the Knights of Columbus.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

 

Survivors include his wife Mary Anne of St. Olaf; children, Paul (Lori) Keppler of St. Olaf, Sara (Tim) Miller of Waukon, Amanda (Ryan Klink) Keppler of St. Olaf, Louis (Angel) Keppler of Elkader, Cletus (Tanya) Keppler of St. Olaf and Abby Keppler of Kansas City, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Keppler of Oelwein.

 

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elkader. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. John Haugen as the celebrant. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family.
