Lynn Marie Cassel, 59, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, near Necedah.

Lynn was born on Dec. 31, 1961, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Roger and LaVonne (Larson) Nagel. She was raised in the Prairie du Chien area before moving to Winona, Minn., when she was 9. In her younger years, she loved horses and enjoyed being on skates whenever she could. In 1978, she was married to Larry Jonsgaard, and although their union would later dissolve, they were blessed with two children.

Lynn worked at the old Trucker’s Café in Winona for a few years before moving on to becoming the manager at the Sundown Motel; she spent 13 years at Volunteer Services and also worked for the TRW Auto-electrical Company on their assembly line.

Lynn loved to spend every moment of her free time outdoors. She enjoyed planting beautiful gardens as well as fishing on both lakes and rivers. She was also known to enjoy a good shopping spree either at stores or local garage sales.

Lynn will always be remembered by her husband, Tom Cassel; children, Shawn (Amy Newmann) Jonsgaard and Nicole Jonsgaard; parents, LaVonne (Roger) Thompson and Roger Nagel; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; twin sister, Linda Bernhardt and brother, Rick (Roseannah) Nagel; as well as her nieces, nephews, other extended family and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Brenda Reynolds, William Nagel, and Cathy Nagel; as well as her step-father, Roger Thompson.

There will be a Celebration of Lynn’s Life held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at the Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Winona. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the celebration from 1 to 2 p.m. There will be a reception held for family and friends at the Holzinger Lodge in Winona following the services at the funeral home, beginning at 4 p.m. The Hoff Funeral Homes and Celebration of Life Center is assisting Lynn’s family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the family.
