Jay Robert Lausted (Old man, Old timer) was an only child and was called home to be with his parents and grandparents on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021.

Jay was an avid fisherman, always knowing when and where the fish were biting by the color of his eyes. (He had one brown and one green). If they were the same color, fishing was good! When he’d ask if we wanted to go fishing with him, we’d ask to look at his eyes. That determined if we wanted to sit and catch nothing or everything that day.

Jay was the loving father of Julie (Eric) Kammler, Jaye (Mike) Ottinger and Jody (Shane) Lausted; stepfather of Matthew Gorski; grandfather to Justin (Jodi) Kammler, Stephanie (Zach) Schoening, Alex (Mirasia) Sirna, Zack Samz, Xavier (Calista) Sirna and Emily Farrow, Alexis Smith and Rome Gorski; and great-grandfather of Jay, Ezra, Jordan, Winona, Beau, Claire and Whit. Jay is also survived by his ex-wife and great friend, Mary Barr Lausted; along with a host of many family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Betty Lausted; and his grandparents, Steve and Helen Slawinski (lovingly known as Boppie and Nannie) and Allen and Laurette Lausted.

As per his request, Jay wanted no one to grieve over him, so there will be no service. He will be cremated and scattered at his most favorite fishing spot in Hayward.
