Donald G. Orr, 92, of Bagley, passed away on Tuesday, Oct 5, 2021, at his home.  

He was born March 24, 1929. He attended Bagley High School in Bagley. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1947 and  served aboard a Wind-class icebreaker, the USS Edisto. Don married Doris “Joann” Behlmer on April 18, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Bagley. She later preceded him in death on July 11, 2003. He loved to farm and play baseball. After farming, Don owned and operated Orr’s Dozing Service in Bagley.  He also took over a business from his uncle, August, named Plondke Sorghum. Don served with the Grant County Sherriff’s Department as a part-time police officer for over 50 years.  

He is survived by his sons, Carl (Jane) and Alan (Elena) Orr; his daughter, Pamela (Bob) Kauffman; grandchildren, Tori, Tiffany, Zachery, Levi, Liezel; his great-grandchildren, Nathan, Autumn, Sophie, and Kai; half-brother, Robert; half-sisters, Marjorie, Janet, Judie, Carolyn, Micki, and Shirley; along with numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and half-sisters, Erma and Iola.

Friends may gather at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of departure for the Bagley Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Bagley American Legion Post 482. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
