Doran M. Kirschbaum Sr., age 64, of Marquette, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis., surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Prairie du Chien on March 8, 1957, the son of Michael and Goldie (Jones) Kirschbaum. He graduated from St. Mary’s in Bloomington before going to work on the family farm with his brother Ray. Doran was married and had two children to this union. After working on the farm, he then went to work for Prairie Sand & Gravel, where he stayed for 38 years. He took pride in operating equipment and watching the company grow into his second family. He then married and had three children to this union. Doran was an adventurous man who loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. This passion led him to travel the world, making trips to South Africa, Hawaii with his children and Alaska to fish and bear hunt. He loved his Harleys and Mustang Shelby GT350, his pride and joy. Doran married Tracey Borek in 2014 and gained two more children. Doran and Tracey loved to travel, go to car shows and spend time with their family. He was a selfless man who took pride in his children and their accomplishments. He loved giving and surprising others with generous acts of kindness. He enjoyed cooking for his family and acting as a teacher and mentor whenever he could. He is survived by his wife Tracey Kirschbaum; his children Angel (Matt) Becwar, Sami (Davis) Marshall, Rachel (Joel Meyer) Schmitz, Tammy (Dale) Starrett, Tim Kirschbaum and Doran (Molly) Kirschbaum Jr.; his sisters Aggie Rush and Eva Kirschbaum; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David, his brothers Ray, Cletus, Michael and Duane, and two grandsons.  

 

A memorial service will be Monday, Dec. 27, at 12 p.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, with a celebration of life to follow at the Barn Restaurant, both in Prairie du Chien.
