Anna L. Wood, 91, of Bagley, passed away peacefully at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa, on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. 

She was born on April 29, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Schuchart) Northouse, in Lafayette County, near Shullsburg. Anna married Loren L. Wood on Sept. 7, 1949, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Together, they farmed in the Bagley area. She loved gardening and making quilts. Anna was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Patch Grove and also attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington. She enjoyed family reunions and volunteering in Bagley for Legion Auxiliary events and at the senior meal site.

Anna is survived by her seven children, Marlene (Richard) Vogt, Ronald (Lisa), Dale (Maralyn), Roger (Yong), Glenn (Bev), Suzanne (Gregg) Romens, Tina (John) Rose; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Cook and Gertrude Fiedler; a brother-in-law, Max Wood; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; daughter, Marilyn; three brothers, Norman (Marion), Paul (Donna), and John “Jack” (Imedla) Northouse, and a sister Theresa (Ambrose) Harris; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Cook and William “Bill” Fiedler, and members of the Wood family. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church in Patch Grove, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in the Bagley Cemetery, Bagley. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. 

In lieu of plants and flowers, an Anna Wood Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory, in Bloomington, is assisting the family.
