The Clayton Ridge school board held its monthly meeting on Jan. 10 at the elementary library in Garnavillo. President John Heying led board members Jessica Bittner, Christine Aulwes, Alicia Helle, Ellen Johnson, Mike Finnegan and Jason Reimer through the meeting's agenda. Also attending were Superintendent Shane Wahls, Dean of Students Wade Marlow and staff members Collin Arndt, Lori Bunting and Tierney Hoefer.

Supt. Wahls reported on an upcoming work session with the Iowa Association of School Boards. 

Athletic Director Collin Arndt gave an update on winter sports, coaching numbers, open positions and student eligibility concerns.

Board members discussed OSHA standards and other COVID concerns.

The board approved the early retirement and resignation of teacher Lori Bunting, and the resignation of teacher associate Amanda Hansel.

Kayla Kelly was approved as a volunteer softball coach.

The board authorized a request for $166,688 in Modified Supplemental funds to implement the at-risk/dropout prevention program.  

A $9,147 payment to Alliant Energy was approved to replace the Garnavillo transformer.

Amendments were approved to an agreement with Guttenberg Municipal Hospital for nursing services. The annual contract was approved with Gundersen Health Services to provide DOT drug testing services.

The board voted to increase substitute teacher pay to $125.
