Decker, 4x100 qualify for Drake Relays
MFL MarMac track and field athletes will compete in two events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines this week.
Bulldog junior Karter Decker qualified in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.96 seconds. The time, set at the April 21 Kee High Invitational, is the fourth-fastest in Class 2A this season, according to Varsity Bound, and also ranks him 13th at the Drake Relays. Miles Thompson of Cedar Rapids Washington has the top seed time of 10.56 seconds.
Decker will run in the 100 meter prelims on Friday, April 29, at 8:40 a.m. The finals would be later that afternoon, at 2:36 p.m.
MFL MarMac’s 4x100 relay team of Wyatt Powell, Kaden Stocker, Cullen McShane and Decker will also run at the blue oval after securing a qualifying time of 44.95 seconds at last week’s meet at Kee. They’ll come into the event seeded 87th. The top team from Southeast Polk has a time of 41.94 seconds this season.
The Bulldogs won’t compete until Saturday, April 30, at the 9:45 a.m. prelims. The final will be at 4:02 p.m.
