Congresswoman Ashley Hinson held a town hall event at Johnson’s Reception Hall, in Elkader, on May 6. It included a brief speech and Q&A session with constituents.

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson visited Elkader May 6, holding a town hall event at Johnson’s Reception Hall. She delivered a brief speech on her work in Congress, which focused on the state of the economy, securing the southern border, ensuring every Iowan has freedom and opportunity and doing what’s best for the communities in the district she represents.

Hinson also spoke about some of the common themes running through the town hall events she has hosted, which total 26 this election cycle. Among those themes is what she labeled the “spending binge” in Washington, the rising costs on everything from food to fuel and the disappearance of expendable income.

“Life is less affordable under this administration,” Hinson quoted town hall-goers as saying.

Hinson also highlighted some of the 21 bills she has sponsored or co-sponsored since going to Washington and on her continued efforts in the area of disaster preparedness, especially as it relates to Clayton County.

During the Q&A session, Hinson took questions on a range of issues, including student loan debt, health insurance, vaccine mandates, the Supreme Court leak, digital currency and the southern border.

Hinson noted how she continues to “sound the alarm” on issues affecting the country and stated, “The country is clearly on the wrong track.”
