Central boys wrap golf season, Frieden shoots way to Final Regionals for girls

The Central boys golf season ended at sectionals on May 11, as the team shot a 489 at the Woods Edge Golf Course. Brock Eglseder shot the lowest score for the Warriors. No additional stats were provided.
The girls’ team, on the other hand, found a little more success on the courses. On May 10, the team played in the UIC meet at South Winneshiek, where they finished in fifth place, shooting a team total 480. Sophia Keppler was the top finisher, shooting a 113 for eighth place and Haley Frieden shot a 116, which put her 12th.
The team next traveled to Tri City Golf Club in Luana for the regional meet, where the Warriors again finished fifth, shooting a 480. Keppler shot a 113, coming in 11th at the meet, Alexis Fettkether finished 19th after shooting a 120 and Makayla Erickson shot a 139 for 34th. Jillian Finley finished 45th with a 170 and Madison Schmidt shot a 186 to end the day in 47th.
The low score for the Warriors came from Frieden, who finished fourth with a 108 and advanced to the Final Regionals on Wednesday, May 18, at Grundy Center.
