Joseph “Joe” Edward Greener, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2022, at his home with his wife at his side. He spent his early years growing up in Marquette. Joe was the son of Louis and Maxine Greener.

Joe was a gentle man with so many talents. He was a man with few words. His actions were his words of love. “So few words, yet they said so much.”

He had a gifted mind and hands for carpentry, working with his hands and rebuilding rooms and furniture in their home. He left his mark on every room.

Joe had built many flower beds that his wife cared for and he would spend many hours looking at the flowers with pride and a smile.

Christmas was a time he loved most, and he made many of the decorations and displays. The home was truly decorated for the holidays.

Joe worked for Taylor Industries in Des Moines, for many years as their number one boat mechanic. He had a way of solving any problems. He took pride in being able to solve and fix broken motors that others could not.

Surviving Joe are his wife, Juanita, of Des Moines; sister, Maxine Blythe, of What Cheer; sister-in-law, Mary Greener, of McGregor; nieces, a nephew and extended family.

Preceding Joe in death were his parents and brother, Larry.

A graveside service was held May 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in McGregor, with Deacon Patrick Malanaphy as the officiant.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, of McGregor, assisted the family with arrangements.
