The Prairie du Chien Common Council approved an ordinance, June 7, regulating downtown parking in the Parkers Parking Lot, behind the public library, in Prairie du Chien.

Up until this time, public parking has been allowed in every stall of the lot. The new ordinance establishes slightly different guidelines.

The first eight stalls on the north side of Parkers Parking Lot, starting from the east and going west, are now reserved library parking from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to the ordinance. Outside of those hours, the lot will be open to the general public for parking without time restrictions.

When winter parking rules go into effect, no one will be permitted to park in any of the lot’s parking stalls from 1 to 6 a.m.

New pool slide pump

The council approved minutes from the late-May finance committee meeting. These included approval of a replacement for the Wacouta Aquatic Park slide pump. To cover costs, $17,840 from ARPA funds and $2,000 from park and rec aquatic account funds are being used.

Corn maze

The council also approved minutes from the May public works committee meeting. That involved an agreement to lease 17.2 acres of farm land in TID 9 to Nick Gillitzer for 2022. The land lease will be for one year, to develop and host a corn maze, at the same amount previously in the lease for the property.

Other business

The council gave the OK to a temporary access easement off of Wisconsin Street to Pelton Development for the Prairie Bluffs Court project.

A mayoral appointment of Janet Finn to the design and preservation commission was announced.

A summary of the 2021 wastewater treatment facility compliance maintenance report was presented and the city adopted it.
