Henry Christopher Plagman, 71, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at Guttenberg Care Center.

A graveside service was held at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Garber on Oct. 4. Pastor Margaret Yackel Juleen officiated.

Henry was born on July 21, 1951, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, to LaVerne and Minnie (Bottleman) Plagman. Henry grew up around the Elkport area, where he received his education locally. Henry spent his life working for various local farmers.

He met and married the love of his life, Sandra Jean Krugger. On March 12, 1971, they married at the Methodist Church in McGregor. They were blessed with four children: Wendy, Mary, Kimberly and LaVern. He lost his wife in 1974, and a part of Henry died that day as well. The past 15 years of his life, Henry resided at Scenic Acres in Elkader, where he reconnected with his children. It’s no secret that he had a very strong bond with his twin great-granddaughters. He lit up with smiles just speaking of them, and he knew what twin they were by name. They loved him just the same. We are all at peace knowing our dad today is in the arms of his beautiful wife, and his broken heart is now whole.

Survivors include his children, Wendy Plagman of Manchester, Mary (Breyon) Gibson of Wadena, Kimberly (Don) Buckley of Elkader and Lavern Plagman of Wadena; six grandchildren, Kevin and Justin Krapfl, Jordon (Rich) and Alisha Cook, Tessa (Eric) Barger and Tiffany Plagman; and five great-grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Jean Krugger; parents, LaVerne and Minnie Plagman; brother, LaVerne Plagman; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Plagman.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses who took great care of Henry at Scenic Acres, Guttenberg Care Center and St. Croix Hospice. We will forever be grateful for your love and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Croix Hospice.
