The MFL MarMac volleyball team dropped to 6-18 overall and 1-4 in Upper Iowa Conference play after losses to North Fayette Valley and West Central last week.

The TigerHawks won the Oct. 4 match-up 3-0. The first set was a close 25-21, and they needed extra points to defeat the Bulldogs 27-25 in the second. The third set went to NFV 25-15.

NFV tallied 31 kills in the match and recorded nine blocks against MFL MarMac. From the service line, the TigerHawks finished at 93.4 efficiency and picked up seven aces.

The Oct. 6 game against West Central was a five-set thriller, falling 3-2 in favor of the Blue Devils.

MFL MarMac won the opener 25-19, before dropping the next two sets 25-17 and 25-16. The Bulldogs eked out a 28-26 advantage in set four, but lost the deciding frame 15-11.

Similar to NFV, West Central totaled 31 kills in this game, but only five blocks. The team’s serving also proved difficult for the Bulldogs, who allowed 11 aces. The Blue Devils made 93.6 percent of serve attempts.

No individual statistics were available for the Bulldogs from either game.

MFL MarMac will conclude regular season play this week, hosting Kee on Oct. 11, then heading to Central on Oct. 13.

The Bulldogs will begin postseason play Monday, Oct. 17, at Clayton Ridge. Start time is 7 p.m. The winner will head to Grundy Center on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
