Tori Sylvester

The 2022 Central Warriors volleyball season saw a new coach, an improved record and a playoff victory. The Warriors finished 12-25 overall and 4-4 in the Upper Iowa Conference, and had four players selected for all-conference.

Senior Aly Feickert was a first team selection after a season in which she led the team in the number of serve attempts and serve efficiency, at 96.7 percent. She was third in aces with 33, while also leading the UIC in serve attempts, efficiency and serve successes.

Offensively, Feickert was second among Central players with 130 kills, but it was on defense where she proved indispensable, leading the team and UIC in digs, with 428, and finishing with nine blocks.

Fellow senior Lexi Loan was selected to the second team. Loan was an undisputed leader on the floor and from the outside hitter position, leading the team in kills with 373. She finished fourth in the UIC in overall kills. Additionally, Loan was a force on defense, coming in third on the team with 351 digs and 16 blocks. She also hit a team-high 40 aces and finished the season at 87.4 percent serve efficiency.

Two Warriors earned honorable mention status: junior Lizzie Royer and sophomore Tori Sylvester. Royer’s contribution came offensively, where she compiled 559 assists, which led the UIC and was more than any other Warrior setter in at least 14 seasons. Royer also contributed 30 kills on offense and 268 digs and 14 blocks on defense. She totaled 25 aces and a serve efficiency of 86 percent.

Sylvester finished third in kills with 102. Defensively, she made her presence known with a team leading 26 blocks, while finishing second in digs with 351. Sylvester was also second on the team with 38 aces and fourth in serve efficiency, at 87.8 percent.
