Central boys put together competitive meet at Postville

Tate Berns placed eighth in the 100 meter dash at the April 6 Postville Foster-Kiesau Relays. He later ran a personal best time of 26.48 seconds in the 200, and finished 13th in that event.
Ryan Schroeder tied for fifth in the shot put.
In the 3200, Michael White ran a 13:09.61 and finished seventh and Declan Finley came in ninth with a time of 14:01.87.

The April 6 Foster-Kiesau Relays at Postville were another meet in the right direction for the Central boys track and field team. The Warriors recorded multiple top-10 finishes and 11 personal records, and were competitive across several events.
In the field events particularly, Central finished with two top-five results. In the high jump, Isaac Loan put up a height of 5-04.25, two inches higher than his previous best, which put him into fourth. In the long jump, Loan’s distance of 15-11.00 placed him seventh, while Carter Krugger improved on his previous best distance by eight inches for a final jump of 14-10.00 and a 12th-place finish.
The shot put featured Ryan Schroeder, who tied for fifth with a throw of 39-01, and Max Fettkether was 15th.
In the discus, Schroeder managed a distance of 97-07.25, coming in eighth, while Carson Ruegnitz was close behind in ninth with 97-02.
Schroeder put up personal bests in both events, and Ruegnitz added 11 feet to his personal best in the discus.
The Warriors added some top-10 finishes in the sprint events, including a personal record for Tate Berns in the 200, where he improved his final time by two-tenths of a second to 26.48 and finished 13th. Elliot Kelly ran to 14th in 26.64, while Kyle Reinhart crossed the line 18th in 28.12.
Berns also ran in the 100, finishing eighth in 12.70 seconds. Teammate Reinhart’s time of 13.29 seconds put him 15th, and Jacob Cook was right behind him in 16th, with a time of 13.30.
Krugger ran the 400 in 1:06.53 and finished 10th. Henry Reimer closed strong in 13th with a time of 1:08.89.
In the 400 hurdles, Braxton Bormann finished sixth and Preston Kulper seventh.
The Warriors put up six top 10s across the distance races, beginning with Gavin Holst and Krugger in the 800-meter run. Holst was fourth with a personal best 2:14.89 and Krugger was eighth, running two laps in 2:37.32.
Holst added another fourth-place finish in the 1600, running the race in 5:14.41. Vaughn Zittergruen was sixth in 5:44.25.
The 3200 was equally successful for the Warriors, as Michael White ran a 13:09.61 and finished seventh and Declan Finley came in ninth with a time of 14:01.87.
Central put up multiple top fives in the relays, including third place in the distance medley, with Kelly, Reimer, Loan and Zittergruen running a 4:16.73. The 4x800 squad of Krugger, Reimer, Zittergruen and Bryce Heller also finished third in 10:28.71.
The 800 sprint medley group of Kelly, Berns, Loan and Holst finished the race in 1:48.96, putting them fifth. Another fifth place effort came in the 4x110 shuttle hurdle event, which featured Kulper, Ruegnitz, Bormann and Kelly.
The 4x400 was a seventh place finish for Reimer, Kulper, Heller and Bormann, who turned in a time of 4:30.75. The lowest relay finish came in the 4x200, with Reinhart, Bormann, Kulper and Cook taking ninth in 1:55.43.
The Warriors have two meets this week, at Decorah High School on April 10, then at West Delaware High School April 13.
