The MFL MarMac boys golf team placed third of eight teams in last week’s season-opening meet hosted by Anamosa. It was a test head coach Jake Wilke said would be a good indicator of how the Bulldogs stack up against tough competition.

MFL MarMac’s score came in at 328, just three off second-place Union Community. Don Bosco took the top spot at 311.

Nick Krambeer was the Bulldogs’ top golfer, tying for fourth place after shooting a 78 over 18 holes. Brother Ben Krambeer wasn’t far behind. A 79 put him tied for sixth.

MFL MarMac senior Joe Grau rounded out the top 10 with an 83, and Quinn McGeough shot an 88 for 15th place. A 93 tied Sawyer Keehner for 22nd place, while Jonah Wille finished 27th with a 94.

The Bulldogs returned to action April 8, in the Ed-Co Viking Invite at Woods Edge Golf Course.

East Buchanan’s Ben Hesner shot a 78 over 18 holes, and was the top individual that day. For MFL MarMac, Grau tied for fifth with an 84. Ben Krambeer and McGeough each came in at 87, tying for 11th, while Nick Krambeer placed 19th with a 90.

This week includes a triangular against Postville and Waukon at Tri City Golf Course on April 11, then an Upper Iowa Conference match-up at North Fayette Valley on April 13.
