The MFL MarMac girls golfers turned in what coach Jake Wilke said were the best team scores in recent history in last week’s meets at Waukon and North Fayette Valley.

The Bulldogs placed second in an April 11 quadrangular at Waukon, with their score of 224 trailing only the 188 put up by Oelwein. Postville came in at 251 and Waukon 269.

Oelwein’s Hannah Patrick was the meet medalist, after shooting a 45. Teammate Jaylynn Craun’s 46 put her in the runner-up position.

The top five golfers were all from Oelwein, with their streak only broken up by MFL MarMac freshman Devon Meyer, whose 51 was tops on the team. Morgan Jacobson placed eighth with a 56 and Kaylee Baker rounded out the top 10 with a 58. Mackenzie Bachman and Mallory Lang were a respective 13th and 14th with scores of 59 and 61, while Clare Grau’s 67 put her 16th in the varsity standings.

On April 13, the Bulldogs lowered their team score to 215, just off the 210 compiled by host North Fayette Valley.

Kassie Tilleraas of NFV shot a meet-low 45 and was the medalist. MFL MarMac’s Meyer was the runner-up with a 50, and Jacobson was close behind after shooting a 52. Bachman tied for fifth at 55, followed by Baker in eighth with a 58. Grau and Lang finished a respective ninth and 10th with scores of 65 and 66.

The 2-2 Bulldogs have two Upper Iowa Conference match-ups this week. They will head to Clayton Ridge on April 20, then be at home against South Winneshiek on April 21.
