PdC boys and girls track compete at conference and regional meets

The Prairie du Chien track team traveled to the Southwest Wisconsin Conference meet at Richland Center on Tuesday, May 16 and had some great individual performances though maybe not as many as they had hoped for going into the meet. Both Prairie teams finished fourth with the boys scoring 90.50 points while the Prairie girls earned 82 points. Platteville took first one the boys side with 123 points while Lancaster was first on the girls side with 153 points. 

Earning top three finishes for the Hawks at the conference meet were the following:

Boys

110m Hurdles - 1. Blake Thiry (15.67).

300m Hurdles - 1. Thiry (41.28).

4x100m Relay - 1. Trystan Nesvold, Alex Lee, Hunter Straka, and Deacon Chesebro (45.34).

4x200m Relay - 3. Nesvold, Jackson Perkins, Garrett DeHart, and Chesebro (1:38.34).

4x800m Relay - 3. Luke Kramer, Bryce Priebe, Samuel Kramer, and Spencer Foley (9:00.98).

Long Jump - 1. Thiry (45-03.00) - Broke his own school record.

Shot Put - 2. Max Schneider (42-07.25).

Girls

100m Hurdles - 3. Taia Dressler (18.53).

300m Hurdles - 2. Tannah Radloff (49.16).

4x100m Relay - 2. Greenlee Krahn, Madi Fisher, Shayla Straka, and T. Dressler (51.87).

4x200m Relay - 1. Teagan Radloff, Tannah Radloff, Krahn, and Fisher (1:50.08).

4x400m Relay - 1. Teagan Radloff, S. Straka, Fisher, and Tannah Radloff (4:10.99).

High Jump - 2. Sadie Torgerson (J4-10.00).

Long Jump - 3. S. Straka (16-00.25).

Triple Jump - 3. S. Straka (33-07.25).

Blake Thiry had a conference meet for the record books for PdC Track. He became the first Prairie boy or girl to ever win four individual events during one conference championship meet.

In program history, only three other Prairie track athletes have managed to even win four combined events (individual events plus relay events) during one conference championship meet - Mary Mulrooney in 1978 (220 Yard Dash, 440 Yard Dash, Long Jump and Mile Relay alongside Lisa David, Michele Gokey,  and Carol Pedretti), Greg Chojnacki in 1972 (120 Yard Hurdles, 180 Yard Hurdles, Long Jump, and 880 Yard Relay along with Jeff Bowar, Jim Jerde, and Bob Seymour), and Edward “Babe” Graap in 1937 (100 Yard Dash, High Jump, Discus, and 880 Yard Relay alongside Bernard Gronert, Warren Wade, and Vernon Yonker).

Next up for the Hawks was the D2 regional meet on Monday, May 22 in Prairie du Chien. The Prairie boys finished sixth out of eight teams with 84 points, while the PdC girls finished seventh with 67.33 points.

The first four finishers in each event qualify for the he D2 Sectional Meet at McFarland on Thursday, May 25. PdC tracksters who placed in top four of their event were the following:

Boys

200m Dash - 2. Lee (23.17)

110m Hurdles - 1. Thiry (15.60)

300 Meter Hurdles - 2. Thiry (40.88)

Long Jump - 1. Thiry (21-02.00), and 2. H. Straka (20-06.00)

Triple Jump - 1. Thiry (43-00.50)

Girls

100m Dash - 4. Taia Dressler (13.69)

300m Hurdles - 1. Tannah Radloff (47.58)

4x100m Relay - 2. Krahn, Fisher, S. Straka, and Taia Dressler (51.09)

4x200m Relay - 2. Teagan Radloff, Tannah Radloff, Krahn, and Fisher (1:48.69)

4x400m Relay - 1. Teagan Radloff, Fisher, S. Straka, and Tannah Radloff (4:09.42)

Triple Jump - 2. S. Straka (34-03.75), and 3. Tannah Radloff (33-11.25)
