David Arnot Hart February 9, 1952-November 3, 2023
David Arnot Hart, McGregor, IA, a genuine, sweet soul, died Nov. 3, 2023, at the age of 71.
He was born Feb. 9, 1952, in Oklahoma City, OK, to John K. Hart Sr. and Wilda (Arnot) Hart. The family moved to Illinois in the 1950’s and David spent most of his youth in Arlington Heights, IL. Many summers and holidays were spent on his grandparents’ farm in Missouri, where he learned to appreciate the slower country life away from the big city.
He and his older brother, John, loved to go “frog-gigging” with their grandfather at the farm. We could have imagined he’d later train to be a professional chef after all the frog legs he captured in his younger years.
A bit of a rolling stone like his older brother, David moved to different parts of the country, even ending up on the east coast for a bit. Hurricane Hugo finally drove him back to the Midwest, but he never looked back. The Midwest always had his heart.
David and his brother John shared a special bond that all who have siblings could envy. They spent the last several years in Iowa playing music and enjoying quality moments with loving friends. David was always a quiet man, cautiously observing and learning from everyone around him. He truly enjoyed the simpler things in life, spending many hours at the library. He refused to even purchase a cell phone until very recently.
David was predeceased by his parents and his brother. He is survived by cousins in Oklahoma and Texas, as well as countless friends in Iowa, Wisconsin and beyond. David resided at the Valley View Apartments in McGregor, IA. He will truly be missed for his gentle, caring manner and abiding love for family and friends.
