NC/S wrestlers have busy first week with two triangular meets

North Crawford/Seneca wrestling opened up their 2023-24 season by hosting a triangular with Brookwood and Viroqua on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Brookwood defeated NC/S 30-18 in the first dual. Seneca wrestlers Sawyer Swiggum and Jaren Grimsled picked up two of the three wins by NC/S wrestlers. Swiggum defeated Brookwood’s Derulo Rodriguez via pinfall in the 285 pound match. Grimseld earned a forfeit victory in the 106 pound weigh class.
Viroqua defeated NC/S 54-18 in the second dual of the night. Grimsled and Swiggum once again claimed two of the three victories by the co-op. Grimseld earned a victory in the 120 pound weight class with a pin of Viroqua’s Drebin Dahl in 0:41. Swiggum also won via pinfall with a pin of Ethan Ellefson in 0:24 in the 215 weight class.
NC/S traveled to Starmont (Iowa) for a triangular meet with De Soto and Starmont on Thursday, Nov. 30. First up was conference rival De Soto who defeated NC/S by a score of 36-21. Once again Grimsled and Swiggum earned two of the three NC/S wins in the meet. Grimsled earned a win via forfeit and Swiggum defeated Justin Obert via pinfall in 0:58. In the second dual of the meet, Starmont defeated NC/S 72-6. Grimseld earned the only victory for NC/S when he defeated Syrus Baker via pinfall in 0:50. Swiggum fell to Starmont’s Owen Recker via pinfall in 1:10.
Next up for North Crawford/Seneca wrestling team is the Waunakee Warrior Invite on Saturday, Dec. 9 with action starting at 9 a.m.
