Prairie girls defeated twice at home, then lose on the road at Oregon to end week

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks girls basketball had tough week last week as the Hawks fell in each of the three games they played in.
Against the Holmen Vikings on Tuesday, Nov. 28, the Hawks and the visiting Vikings went into the break tied at 15-15, but the Vikings outscored the Hawks by six to earn a 42-36 victory. Greenlee Krahn scored a game high 17 points to lead the Hawks, with Tessa Czajkowski Higgins and Tannah Radloff both adding seven points each. Karly Kramer (3 points) and Rita Achenbach (1 point) rounded out the scoring for Prairie.
Platteville next came to town on Friday, Dec. 1 looking to open up SWC play with a big early season win. Platteville built off a 26-24 halftime lead to extend their lead over the Hawks to double figures in the second half before earning a 63-52 victory. The Hawks were led by Radloff with 15 points, with Achenbach, Czajkowski Higgins, and Kramer all scoring 9 points each. Claire Kennedy (6 points) and Krahn (4 points) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.
The loss snapped a program record 30-game Southwest Wisconsin Conference winning streak for Prairie du Chien. The Hawks’ last conference loss prior to Friday night was a 66-56 home loss to Platteville on February 14, 2020. This was also the longest winning streak of any kind (conference or overall) by any team in school history.
The Hawks then traveled to Oregon on Saturday night to play their second Badger Conference opponent of the season. The host Panthers led 30-21 at halftime before outscoring the Hawks 35-22 in the second half to hand the Hawks a 65-43 loss.
Prairie du Chien traveled to South Wayne on Tuesday night to play Black Hawk before returning home on Thursday, Dec. 7 to host Richland Center.
