The Central cross country team competed for the first time this season at Tri City Golf Course in Luana on Sept. 5.

 

The race included two top-20 finishes in the women’s 5K, with Blair Scherf placing 12th and Coral Rork crossing the finish line 20th. In 28th place was Alexis Thiese, who also set a course personal record. Aspen Rork ran to 34th place and Hannah Friedlein was 38th. Following them were Lily Becwar in 48th and Mya Gregerson in 55th. 

 

In the men’s 5K, the Warriors were headlined by Gavin Holst, who clocked in at 18:32.78 for a third place run. Carson Ruegnitz finished fifth with a career best time of 18:58.71. Joining them in the top 20 were Jesse Polkinghorn, who ran a personal course record to finish 11th, and Henry Reimer, who also put in a personal course record. 

 

Tyce Zittergruen placed 22nd and Declan Finley crossed in 25th, setting a personal course record in the process, while Michael White was 28th. Vaughn Zittergruen finished 31st, Breckon Holst 41st, Carter Krugger 42nd, Bryce Heller 48th and Griffin Koehn 52nd.

 

The Warriors placed second as a team and were first out of the five Upper Iowa Conference schools present, according to coach Mark Bauder. 

 

Central races again on Sept. 10, at Clayton Ridge. A trip to North Fayette Valley will follow on Thursday, Sept. 12.
