Denis Alan Glesne, 81, of North Fort Myers, Fla., died on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, in his home following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s.

Denis was born on Oct. 25, 1942, in Elkader, the son of Melvin and Gladys (Anderson) Glesne. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Church in Elkader. He graduated from Central Community School in 1960. He entered the Army in 1961, where he served three years. After his return from the service, he dated Carol Bente, whom he married in 1965. To this union, one son, Alan, was born. They resided in Dubuque, where he worked for 20-plus years at the Dubuque Packing Company. He and Carol divorced. He moved back to Elkader and bartended at Bill’s Boat Landing in Clayton. He moved to Florida, where he bartended at the Snook Inn on Marco Island until he retired. In 2010, he married Luba Pomozueva, a wonderful cook and companion, who took exceptional care of him until his death.

Denis was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Elkader.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Luba of North Fort Myers, Fla.; his son Alan (Judy); grandson, Vance; sister, Karen; brother, Maury (Linda), all of Elkader; stepson Nikoli Pomozueva of North Fort Myers, Fla.; niece Denise Alexie of Strawberry Point; and grand-nephew Peyton Alexie of Waukee.

Denis was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Michael, niece Michelle and grand-nephew Taylor Alexie.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
