Mary Jane Ferguson, 94, of McGregor, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Mary Jane was born May 22, 1930 to Damon and June (Ostrander) Rhoades in Delta. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Mo., and earned her certified nursing degree in Stockton, Mo.

 

On Dec. 4, 1949, Mary Jane was united in marriage with Wilbert “Dell” Ferguson in Postville. Five sons were born to this union. Mary Jane was an EMT for 35 years with the Mar-Mac Rescue Squad. She enjoyed fishing and watching deer out in the country. Mary was a member of the Red Hat Society.

 

Surviving Mary Jane are her sons, Damon “Joe” (Dana) Ferguson of McGregor, James (Joyce) Ferguson of Marion and John Ferguson of McGregor; nine grandchildren, Heather (John) Silvers, Chad (Randi) Ferguson, Jeffrey Ferguson, Jessica (Chris) Stotelmyre, Lindsey Ferguson, Sarah Ferguson, Joseph (Rebecca) Ferrel, Seth (Shelby) Ferrel and Sarah (Cody) NeCollins; and 21 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Dell” Ferguson; sisters, Grynth (Donald) Parizek and Elizabeth “Ann” (Robert Hobbs; parents, Damon and June Rhoades; sons, Richard Ferguson and Jeffrey Ferguson; and grandchildren, Jeffrey Paul Ferguson and Lilie Ferrel. 

 

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with a visitation from 11 a.m. to time of service, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, Wis.

 

Burial will follow at the Monona Cemetery in Monona.

 

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is assisting the family with services.
