Multiple MFL MarMac runners turned in top-five finishes at the Indian Earlybird boys track and field meet at Waukon on April 3.

Bulldogs Anthony Bunting and Kashton Decker jockeyed for position in the sprints, with Bunting placing second in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100, while Decker cruised to third in the 200 and fourth in the 100.

The hurdles were another strong point, as Carter Streicher leapt to third in the 110-meter event, followed by Tucker Ruff in sixth. It was Ruff who came out ahead in the 400 hurdles, taking fifth place over Streicher’s seventh.

Rylan Schroeder and Dante Thornton represented MFL MarMac in the 400-meter dash, placing a respective sixth and 10th. Thornton also ran in the 800, crossing just in front of teammate Jaxon Millage in 19th place; Blake Schutte finished 16th.

Adian Reynolds earned 10th in the 3200-meter run and 17th in the 1600.

Down several athletes due to a soccer match falling on the same night, the Bulldogs did not compete in all the relays. Their best relay finish came in the shuttle hurdle, with third place. The team was fifth in the 4x200 and eighth in both the sprint and distance medleys.

In the field events, Millage turned in a 10th-place throw in the shot put, while Averey Thornton was 14th. The two were a respective 12th and 15th in the discus.

MFL MarMac totaled 53 points to finish seventh of eight teams. Decorah won the meet with 166 points.

The Bulldogs have two meets this week: at Edgewood-Colesburg April 8, then at Postville April 10.
